The European Space Agency, or ESA, launched an initiative a few years ago to begin tackling the problem of debris floating in outer space. The e.deorbit will start to make a dent in the amount of floating debris. The ESA ends its annual report with a sobering message about the future of space, and the impact of space missions: "As vast and empty as space may be, it is not an infinite resource. With the rapid development and deployment of small and increasingly accessible technologies such as CubeSats, space near us is filling up. To continue operating and benefiting from satellites and instruments in orbit around our planet, we need to look after and clean up, our space environment to ensure future sustainability."
